Hands-on guidance from a dedicated professional
Editorial Services
Service rates can vary project to project, based primarily on genre, style, length, and other editorial considerations. The best way to get firm sense of what your project will cost is to contact me for a quote! With a sense of what you need and some sample material, I’ll be able to tell you exactly what my rate will be.
Manuscript Services
Editorial Assessment
Often the best first step, especially for debut authors, an editorial assessment can give you expert perspective and guidance on how to revise your work-in-progress.
After I have assessed your full or partial manuscript, you’ll receive an editorial letter (averages 4-6 pages) focused on big picture editorial points, such as pacing, tone, chapter organization, character development, narrative arc, flow & style, and character chemistry as applicable. It may also address any major recurring line-level issues or other project-specific questions you have.
Rate: Starting at $.035/word (or hourly flat rate for under 20k words)
Developmental Editing
Best for authors looking for more hands-on guidance with clear pointers to specific opportunities for growth in the manuscript, this service provides an in-depth evaluation and full edit of your manuscript.
You will receive both an editorial letter (averaging 5-8 pages) and in-line comments and redlining throughout the manuscript. Like the Editorial Assessment, the focus remains on big picture editorial elements, but also includes advice on the more concrete line level.
Rate: Starting at $.045/word
Line Editing
Great for shorter form work or manuscripts/chapters that have already undergone editorial assessment/developmental editing, this service irons out line-level issues such as sentence structure, grammatical issues, and language overuse/repetition.
Rate: Starting at $.03/word (or hourly flat rate for under 15k words)

Book Proposal Review/Writing
For nonfiction, books are queried and sold to publishers using book proposals. Even if your book is brilliant, it won’t go far without a strong and well-organized proposal. I’ve read over a thousand book proposals, evaluating them for acquisition, and can help ensure yours can go the distance. I offer a few services so you can select the level of support that best matches your needs.

Reading Group Guides
For book club fiction, a reading group guide can be a great marketing tool. I’ve written the discussion guides included in the back of many major bestsellers and book club hits, and can provide one for your book as well. These guides can then be used for outreach to book clubs and mentioned on the cover and retail copy as a bonus feature of the book.
Fee: Starting at $600
Proofreading
For authors who have already completed content editing and want to ensure they are publishing a clean, polished text. Proofreading catches grammatical, typographic, and style consistency errors and serves as a final check before sending your book out into the world for readers.
Rate: Starting at $.0225/word
Retail Copy or Cover Consultation
Your book’s cover and retail description are key to convincing readers to buy your book. As an editor, I have written hundreds of selling summaries for online retail pages and book jackets and helped select the perfect cover for my titles. If you are self-publishing and would like professional input on your consumer-facing materials, I can help you balance metadata SEO with readability and ensure you are meeting current publishing industry best practices.
Rates for this service are highly variable depending on material to be reviewed/revised.
