Care. Honesty. Impact.

My lifelong passion is making books better.

Your editor, Haley Weaver

Growing up in Los Angeles, a media mecca, the power of storytelling was never lost on me. And as a young, queer nerd, escaping into the world of books was a vital resource for me to learn about budding interests, imagine new possibilities, understand different perspectives, and feel seen.

By the age of 15, I had my heart set on becoming a book editor, practicing editing my friends’ fan fiction and reading voraciously to understand the underlying writing mechanisms that held or lost my attention and engagement as a reader. I went on to study creative writing at Wesleyan University, before moving to New York in 2014 to enter the publishing world.

I learned the lay of the land through editorial internships with indie publishers The Feminist Press and Overlook Press and the prestigious academic publisher Columbia University Press, before joining the Big 5 world of Simon & Schuster.

In the following 8 years, first with Atria Books and subsequently with Grand Central Publishing at Hachette, I had the honor of working with hundreds of amazing authors and developing my editorial skills under the mentorship of some of the best and brightest in the publishing industry. From well-known celebrities like Billie Eilish, Ethan Hawke, and Sir David Attenborough to bestselling novelists like Lisa Jewell, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Sarah Pekkanen, the authors I have had the privilege to work with have run the gamut in genre and style.

Now I am living in my dream city of Seattle, Washington, and happy to offer my services to writers who are looking for insight and guidance on their next step in the publishing sphere, whether that means finding the perfect agent, growing their career book over book, or developing their project to self-publish.

In my free time, I am an avid TV viewer, video gamer, embroiderer, wanderer, and (of course) reader. My favorite activities are experimenting with a new recipe, exploring nature on a casual hike, and curling up to listen to the rain with a tasty beverage and a good book.
